Lincoln Animal Ambassadors has partnered with The Purrpose…It's All About the Cats to bring free trap-neuter-return (TNR) services to barn cats and other outdoor cats through the Barn Cats of Nebraska program. The goal is to help farmers see barn cats as valued working animals. Farmers, acreage owners, and anyone caring for an established outdoor cat colony in Lancaster County and surrounding counties can get their cats fixed at no cost.
What's Included
- Neuter or spay
- Rabies and distemper vaccinations
- Flea and tick treatment
- Examination and treatment of wounds, injuries, and other health issues
- Microchip
- Left ear tip to identify altered cats
- Assistance with trapping and transport, or bring the cat in yourself
Why Fix Outdoor Cats?
- Stops reproduction and overpopulation
- Decreases parasite transmission between cats and livestock
- Reduces rabies transmission (from bats and raccoons) among livestock
- Stabilizes the cat population by keeping new cats from entering an established territory
- Reduces disease, fighting, and spraying

- Cuts supplemental food needs by an estimated 25%

Our Impact
- Near Adams, NE: 14 barn cats altered, with 4 litters of kittens rescued and placed for adoption.
- Near Raymond, NE: an ongoing project caring for approximately 70 cats. Because of its size, we've also partnered with The Cat House.
