Low Cost Spay/Neuter Program

Due to Covid-19, we are temporarily suspending our Low Cost Spay/Neuter program. Our participating veterinarians are currently re-booking many of their past procedures and are adjusting to new operating procedures. We will continue to evaluate the situation and will start issuing new vouchers when the situation stabilizes.

Lincoln Animal Ambassadors offers a low-cost spay/neuter program for Lancaster County residents who are unable to pay the full cost of altering their pets. To have your name added to the Low Cost Spay/Neuter Program wait list, leave a message on our voice mail line at 402-817-1168. An LAA volunteer will respond to your call in order to get the necessary information to issue a voucher for a participating veterinary clinic.

If you are a veterinarian who is interested in joining our fight against pet overpopulation by participating in our spay/neuter program, please leave a message on our voice mail line at 402-817-1168.

Currently donations, fundraisers and grants are the sources of funding for our low-cost spay/neuter program. As with all the Lincoln Animal Ambassador's programs, an all-volunteer staff coordinates this program and we do our best to respond in a timely manner. Please send your tax-deductible monetary donation for our low-cost spay/neuter program to:

How does the Lincoln Animal Ambassador’s Low Cost Spay/Neuter Program work?

After a voice mail indicating interest in the low cost spay/neuter program is left at 402-817-1168, you will be contacted by a volunteer to obtain the necessary information about each pet needing altering. We will then issue a voucher as soon as possible. We will process the voucher request as quickly as we can, but the process time varies depending on the number of requests received, volunteer availability, our funding, and veterinary availability.

When your name has been assigned to a volunteer, a short phone interview will be conducted to obtain information for completing the voucher. During the interview a veterinarian clinic will be selected from a list of clinics who have an agreement with Lincoln Animal Ambassadors. A voucher will be issued to both the client and the veterinarian clinic selected during the interview.

Once the client receives the voucher, it is the client's responsibility to make the appointment and bring the pet to the veterinarian's office.

How much will it cost to have my pet altered?

Each client is expected to contribute some amount toward getting their pet(s) spayed or neutered. The amount is based on many different factors such as the breed, age and size of the animal being altered. During the interview, we will ask a number of question to help us better understand the animal and your personal circumstances. We will let you know how much you will need to pay for the procedure before issuing the voucher.
