BIG DOGS HUGE PAWS

Big Dogs - Huge Paws Rescue is a 501c3, non-profit organization comprised of volunteers dedicated to rescuing, re-homing, and rehabilitating unwanted giant breed dogs that have been mistreated, neglected, abused and/or abandoned.  We believe giant breeds to be loyal and loving, yet very expensive and sometimes overwhelming due to their massive size and need for constant human attention.

The cat house

The Cat House provides a safe, no-kill shelter and adoption facility for cats in the Lincoln, Nebraska area.  The Cat House is a 501(c)(3) organization, funded by donations and staffed by volunteers.  The main shelter is at 1935 Q St in Lincoln; cats are also available at PetSmart locations in Lincoln.   Please visit their website for visiting hours and other information, or contact The Cat House at 402-441-9593.

Feline Friendz is a no kill rescue and is the only rescue group in the Omaha area dedicated solely to felines as well as the trap-neuter-release (TNR) of feral cats.

The First Plymouth Church provides a Blessing of the Animals Service every fall.

Karen Clarke, First-Plymouth Animal Ministry Leader and HopeKeepers Leader, offers a free class entitled, Spirituality:  What Can Animals Teach Us?   This class looks at developing a better understanding of animals; gaining knowledge for better communication with animals while building mutual respect; and considering the ways animals can help us tap into our spiritual natures and catalyze personal growth and understanding.  Pre-registration is required.  Please call 402.476.7550 or email addie@firstplymouth.org to register.

Hearts united for animals

Hearts United for Animals is a national no-kill animal shelter, sanctuary and animal welfare organization dedicated to the relief of suffering.  We rescue dogs from all over the country and specialize in long distance adoptions.  We take the creatures who are lost, afraid, hungry or ill and comfort them, give them a warm, soft bed, good food, medical care and most of all, love.  HUA is a place of happiness, joy and love.  Everything we do is in the best interest of the dogs.  The dogs have big fields of grass and trees in which to run.  Our primary interest is what will make them happy.  HUA is a place to celebrate the joy of life.  Hearts United for Animals is located between Auburn and Nebraska City.  You will need to contact them for directions and to verify the visiting hours.

NEBRASKA VOTERS FOR COMPANION ANIMALS

Giving a voice to those who have none.  The Nebraska Voters for Companion Animals is a grassroots lobbying organization, providing education on the cruel practices of commercial dog breeders and lobbying for stronger laws and stricter enforcement of current laws. 

 

PET ENTHUSIAST MAGAZINE

Nebraska and Iowa’s pet lover’s magazine, enriching the lives of pets and their loved ones.  Pet Enthusiast magazine is published bimonthly and each issue is filled with informative articles, interviews with local pet owners, entertaining features, and incredible photographs.  Pet Enthusiast magazine donates 10% of subscription revenue to the subscriber’s choice of animal organization. 

 

RICK’S REPTILE RESCUE

Sadie was a cocker spaniel with special health needs.  Her guardian, Pam, refused to give up hope of finding new and better ways to help Sadie, including both traditional and holistic veterinary care.  Sadie Dog was written to help animals by showing children and readers of all ages, that pets with special needs are loving and fun companions.  With lots of love and proper care, special needs pets can lead long and happy, quality lives.  They too can be forever pets.  In honor of Sadie, proceeds from the sale of each Sadie Dog book are donated to the Sadie Dog Fund, which offers funding to pet guardians that need financial assistance. 

 

St. Matthews Episcopal Church

         The St. Matthews Episcopal Church provides a Blessing of the Animals Service each fall.
