Meeting Notes

17 people in attendance

Molly shared information on our tour of the Nebraska Humane Society, February 22nd.  A tour of the facility and a meeting with Judi and Steve Olsen took place.  They encouraged us to continue in our endeavor.  How we want to progress was discussed. It was discussed that our work with the Capitol Humane Society must begin with the grass roots.  We need to get to the volunteers, then  work up through employees, board, and director.  Volunteers are the  heart and sole of the organization.

LAA needs to get publicity.  It was reported that information about our meeting times has gone to several radio stations, television and newspapers.

We need to continue letters and meetings with city leaders.

A meeting with the area rescue groups to get their input was raised. We should give it a try and see how many come.

Fund raiser  May 2nd, Prime Country Winery, between Lincoln and Crete, 10 am-6 pm Flyers were handed out at the Home and Garden show.  18 vendors are signed up and more need to be checked on.  The goal is to get 50 vendors.  It was decided the cost will be $40  for non profit groups and $75
for profit groups to set up booths.  2 bands will be playing, Skylark and the Resonators.  The event will be catered by Tico's.  The facility has room inside for 40 vendors, an eating area, and a
dancing area.  There will be events the animals to participate.

Scott suggested we promote our fund raiser at the Art show the night before our fund raiser.  The Animal bills LB 677 regulated size of pen etc., was killed.  LB 241 moved to general file.  It included no limit to number of animals for breeders and allows inspectors to go in and look.

A suggestion was to organize a Voters Block to advocate for animals.

The meeting was adjourned.
